I produced two experimental hip hop albums with MC T DeLong in New York City in the late 90's. We were BEDROOM PRODUCTIONS.

You can stream both long lost albums now on my label Random Records’ You Tube page!

Those familiar with my work may remember the music I made with the MC and artist T DeLong back in my New York City daze.

We weren't a band. We were BEDROOM PRODUCTIONS.

Our two albums were only ever released on vinyl. I've now unleashed them on my label Random Records' YouTube page!

T and I met my first year in NYC in the mid 90's through a mutual friend. I gave T a mix tape of mine, and not long after, we were meeting up to conduct free form hip hop jams. The fidelity was low and we stretched what we had; a dated Ensoniq sampler, a Moog, YakBaks, a Casio SK-1. T was freestyling and sometimes impersonating a trumpet, hence the moniker TJ Free was born, while I stuck with DJ Snax. We recorded everything, all on 2 or 4 track cassette. We would make mixtapes at my place in the neighborhood called Murray Hill (immortalized in the track 'Socialism New York City'), and then later re-camped to Closet Studios; literally a closet in my apartment, aka the notorious Bedroom, on 2nd Avenue in the East Village.

One of our earliest supporters was 'crazy Turk' music producer Khan, who thought our experimental audio collages would be perfect for his left field record label El Turco Loco. Khan and I whittled down the creme de la cassettes, editing together the first BP album, released in 1998.

The following years we gigged where we could, mostly New York bars and galleries, plus jaunts in Los Angeles, Mexico City, Cologne, Berlin, and one wild ride through Paris ('...in a sports car'). Meanwhile, life at the Bedroom was a party, a 'Money Star Hustle', which we captured on record. We would often invite whoever was in the living room to come in and do backups, shake a tambourine, skateboard, whatever. Guests included the artist Danielle Rossell, the dearly departed Hollywood Hills, our homie Mattress, and D-list Warhol superstar Ivy Nicholson.

It was all these heady times, plus a bit of an upgrade in our gear and recording devices, that went into the production of our second album released in 2000, 'Fast Cars...Fast Women.'

I'm so proud of these records, and T and I are thrilled to give them new life today. Thanks for checking them out, and we hope you feel some of the same hustle we did when we were making this music, back in them times.

ONE!
